MM19. 17th CENTURY ATTIC TURNED LUXURIOUS LOFT.
Loving the loft • One of the most fun projects I ever did.. We created an industrial styled loft in a 17th century attic in the heart of Antwerp City. Keeping and restoring the old beams was a massive task but worth every drop of sweat. Not to mention the hundreds of bricks we had to clean manually. But hey, at least I saved some money on my gym subscription ;) .
INDUSTRIAL BATHROOM.
We love creating upcycled pieces, like this old schooldesk turned bathroom vanity. Small issue here, the original desk was like 5 meters long! But after doing some welding and adjusting, the vanity was all set. Leaving a few meters for the next project :). .
Creating a luxurious open bathroom with build in tapware and a showerhead hanging from the ceiling to achieve this industrial vibe was a big part of the design plan. We restored & treated the existing brick with a water resistant coating to match the black and white tiles. Selecting the tiles was a long process but I was so happy with the outcome, decided on the @winckelmanstiles_official matte black crosses on the floor, combined with a square one on the walls to finish.
OPEN PLAN LIVING.
Family is the main reason I love open plan living! Never having to leave your dinner guests alone to prep in the kitchen, checking out the kids while cooking,... But we kinda took it to extremes on this loftreno, forgot all about doors ;).
A hallway you say? Might sound boring, but for me, the entry sets the tone for what’s to come. It’s the first & last impression people get when they enter or exit the house. Or loft for this matter.. Bizarre situation we had here, the entry was located on the floor below.. So we took advantage of this space and incorporated a toilet, little space for laundry and boiler. To make a statement, we created a wall with exposed brick next to the stairs, which where upcycled! We adjusted the original stairs to meet modern standards by adding some extra wood and tailormade steel framework. I love all of it! Especially the old industrial street light we rewired 😍.
